About Chechen Negro

Chechen Negro earns its “Caribbean Rosewood” nickname honestly — heartwood ranges from brown to reddish, orange, and yellow, streaked dark brown to almost black against a creamy pinkish backdrop. The grain runs straight to interlocked with a fine-to-medium texture. Despite its density, it works more easily than expected with carbide or stellite tooling, and finishes to a high polish. It’s naturally durable and rot-resistant, which is why it turns up everywhere from bridge planks and telephone poles to fine cabinetry and musical instruments.

Hard and heavy but easier to work than expected — tungsten carbide or stellite tooling recommended. Finishes to a high polish; bonds well with ordinary white glue. Pre-drilling required before nailing or screwing.

The Caribbean's Answer To Rosewood

Chechen Negro pairs dramatic, two-toned streaking with genuine structural durability — as much at home in a bridge plank as in a fine cabinet.
